Welcome
Welcome to the Plantagenet Discoveries blog, after a lot of time, effort, and research, now is the moment to finally begin the journey of a lifetime.
Let’s start with a question…
Why do we have dreams?
We all have dreams, don’t we…
I believe when we have a particular dream, especially one that won’t change or go away, the universe intended it for us and the worst thing we can do is to dismiss it as unreal and fanciful. These dreams play on our minds continually and we are constantly focused on the possibility of turning those dreams into reality. If we really take the time to listen to them we will see they are encouraging us to push forward in order to change our lives for the better.
My dreams have always been of history, castles and times gone by, of knights in shining armour and the songs of troubadours. There is nothing quite like the myriad of emotions you feel standing inside a castle or ruin that has seen not only decades of lives and stories but sometimes even centuries. These buildings and stories fuel our imagination as we wonder how interesting would it be to have actually been there. Unfortunately, because we live in the 21st century, unless we have at our disposal the ultimate time travel machine this is simply not possible.
My solution to this problem is Plantagenet Discoveries - small group themed historical tours of France and the UK that take us on a journey to discover the past, visiting sites that tell the tales of our favourite heroes and heroines, as well as some of the nastiest villains of the Medieval era. The Plantagenets were a royal dynasty that ruled for 331 years. They gave us names like Richard the Lionheart, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Bad King John, Edward the Black Prince and so many more. We still speak of them today, hundreds of years after they lived and breathed.
Watch this space as the story unfolds, I am so excited to share our passion and love of the Middle Ages with you.
